L’Association des Juristes Franco-Britanniques (AJFB/FBLS) organise un séminaire sur l’arbitrage, en partenariat avec le cabinet Reed Smith, dans ses locaux à Paris, 112 avenue Kléber, le 9 novembre, de 18 h à 20 h.

Ce séminaire, également accessible en ligne, par visioconférence, permettra d’analyser, de manière comparative, les enjeux, avantages et inconvénients du choix du lieu d’arbitrage au regard des recours contre les sentences arbitrales pour contrariété à l’ordre public international. Les présentations et discussions entre les intervenants, tous spécialistes de l’arbitrage international, permettront d’aborder les développements récents en la matière et notamment le champ d’application et le contenu de l’ordre public international, l’intensité du contrôle du juge étatique qui varie d’une juridiction à l’autre, le traitement spécifique des allégations de corruption.

Après avoir analysé, l’an dernier, les impacts de la proposition de réforme du droit de l’arbitrage en Angleterre, l’AJFB/FBLS reprend son rendez-vous annuel « which seat of arbitration to choose? » pour examiner les solutions apportées par les différents systèmes juridiques qui hébergent, à tour de rôle, ce séminaire à savoir l’Angleterre et le Pays de Galles, l’Ecosse, la France, l’Irlande et la Suisse.

International public policy and challenge of arbitral awards

The Franco-British Lawyers Society (AJFB/FBLS) is hosting a seminar on arbitration in partnership with Reed Smith, taking place at their offices in Paris, 112 Avenue Kléber, on 9 November, from 6 pm to 8 pm.

This seminar, which is also accessible online via video conference, will offer a comparative analysis of the issues at stake, advantages, and disadvantages related to the choice of the seat of arbitration in relation to challenges to arbitral awards on the grounds of breach of international public policy. Presentations of and discussions between the speakers, all specialists in international arbitration, will delve into recent developments in this topic and in particular the scope and content of international public policy, the varying degree of control conducted by state courts in the different jurisdictions, and the specific question of corruption allegations.

Following last year's focus of the impacts of the proposed reform of the English Arbitration Act, AJFB/FBLS is resuming its annual event, "which seat of arbitration to choose?", to examine the solutions offered by various legal systems that take turns hosting this seminar, namely England and Wales, Scotland, France, Ireland, and Switzerland.

Le séminaire est en cours d’homologation pour 2 heures au titre de la formation continue des avocats. Attendance at the Colloquium may qualify for 2 hours CPD. The event is in the process of being accredited with the Bar Council of Northern Ireland  Barristers in England & Wales, CILEx. Solicitors in England & Wales, and in Scotland self-certify. Advocates in Scotland and Solicitors in Northern-Ireland will be eligible to claim for 2CPD hours. The Franco-British Lawyers Society will issue an attendance certificate.
