About
My name is Caroline Rifaux. I am currently in my second year of a dual degree in French and English law at the University of Essex, in partnership with the University Jean Moulin Lyon 3.
Through my studies, I have gained a thorough understanding of both the French and English legal systems, further enhancing my critical analysis skills and legal reasoning. I have been selected for the dean’s list of excellence.
In my pursuit of practical legal experience, I had the opportunity to join the Essex Law Clinic in my first year, particularly involved in the Innocence project, where I worked on judicial errors. Also, as a Caseworker this year, I assist clients pro bono, honing my attention to detail and strategic legal thinking. I have also completed an internship at the Court of Appeal in Lyon and the Rhône Assize Court, where I observed complex cases, sharpening my interest in criminal and international litigation.
Eager to broaden my perspectives, I regularly attend conferences, such as the Franco-British Forum on Legal Careers, and more recently, a lecture by Judge Iulia Motoc of the International Criminal Court on the responsibility for mass atrocities.
